Complex Independent Medical Opinion (IMO) Evaluation

Comprehensive, records-only medical analysis for cases involving a high level of medical complexity or typically seven to ten claimed conditions, extensive medical records, or complex medical relationships.

Full Description

This service provides a comprehensive, records-based medical review for cases involving a high level of medical complexity or typically 7–10 claimed conditions, including complex secondary service connection or aggravation relationships, prior denials, appeals, conflicting medical evidence, toxic or environmental exposure considerations, retrospective medical questions, or other issues requiring extensive physician analysis.

A U.S. doctorate-level licensed medical provider conducts an in-depth review of your submitted service records, VA records, rating decisions, and medical evidence to determine whether the available evidence medically supports an Independent Medical Opinion (IMO).

What This Includes

  • Comprehensive review of submitted service, VA, and medical records for complex medical questions or typically 7–10 claimed conditions
  • In-depth medical analysis of direct service connection, secondary service connection, causation, and aggravation beyond natural progression, when supported by the evidence
  • Analysis of multiple related conditions and their medical relationships
  • A detailed written Independent Medical Opinion (IMO), when medically supported
  • Secure electronic delivery of the completed opinion

What Happens After Checkout

  • After payment, you will receive secure instructions for submitting your records.
  • Medical review begins after your records are received and the scope of the evaluation is confirmed.
  • If your records indicate that a different level of evaluation is more appropriate, we will contact you before any work proceeds.
  • If medically supported, your written opinion will be delivered electronically within the typical timeframe for Complex Independent Medical Opinion evaluations.

Important Information

  • This is a records-only service. No appointment, physical examination, or telehealth visit is required.
  • This service includes medical record review and independent medical opinions only. It does not include diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, or VA representation.
  • Medical opinions are based solely on the available evidence and the reviewing provider's independent medical judgment. Depending on the records, an opinion may be favorable, unfavorable, neutral, or the reviewing provider may determine that a medical opinion cannot be medically supported.
  • Payment is non-refundable once records have been accessed and the medical review has begun.
  • All VA disability determinations are made exclusively by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Purchasing this service does not guarantee a favorable medical opinion or any specific VA claim outcome.

How We Define Complex Cases

Complex cases are defined by the overall level of medical, legal, and evidentiary complexity, not solely by the number of claimed conditions. While many Complex evaluations involve 7–10 claimed conditions, a case with fewer conditions may also qualify if it requires a substantially more comprehensive medical review, analysis, and medical opinion.

Examples include:

  • Multiple secondary service connection or aggravation relationships
  • Extensive service, VA, and civilian medical records requiring comprehensive review
  • Multiple prior VA denials or conflicting medical opinions
  • Toxic or environmental exposure evaluations
  • Retrospective medical opinions
  • Multiple intertwined diagnoses requiring complex medical analysis
  • Other factors requiring substantially greater physician review time and documentation

Final case classification is determined after review of the submitted records. If your records indicate that a different level of evaluation is more appropriate, we will notify you before any work proceeds. No additional work will begin until you approve the recommended evaluation and any applicable pricing adjustment.
